The show improved considerably after they killed off Doyle. The show moved away from being the episodic mystery of the week and the characters began to be given depth....

LOL
I don't think that had so much to do with Doyle's death as it had more to do with the establisment of the show and the characters motivations and what not, and moving out from under Buffy's shadow. Buffy was very episodic to start with despite the Master plot arc. It's natural for a show to be a bit like that.

For now, I´m in the process of approaching Veronica Mars; since a certain website however has ostensibly shut down I was only able to watch its pilot so far. Further on, Joan of Arcadia´s first season is over in Germany and the respective channel hasn´t launched the DVDs yet So there´s more or less "Berlin, Berlin" left that succeeds in intriguing me enough (I doubt, however, somebody of you happens to know it *whistle*).

I haven't seen any of Joan of Arcadia...but I can point you to a website for Veronica Mars a bittorrent site. Berlin, Berlin sounds interesting, what's it about?

It's one of a handfull of sites that only put up torrents to shows that aren't availiable to buy, as soon as they are for sale the torrents come down.

I've been watching series 3 of The 4400 and series 2 of Eureka online. I'm glad both shows have made a return, I love Eureka's quirkiness and although The 4400 has had some of it's thunder stolen by Heroes I love the apocolyptic turn that it's taken as well as some pretty interesting comment on modern day scare mongering politics and clamp downs on personal freedom.

This coming Saturday (04/08/07) has Empathy being screened on BBC1 at 21:00. It's the last of three separate two-part supernatural dramas by Carnival Films that BBC Scotland decided to commission this year, instead of a fourth season of Sea of Souls. The other two, both broadcast a few months ago, were a two-part Sea of Souls starring Christina Cole, and Lifeline with Jemima Roper.
Unfortunately it appears there's no former Hex cast-members in Empathy, which stars Stephen Moyer as ex-convict Jimmy Collins. Just released following a ten year stretch for manslaughter, he suddenly starts to experience 'visions', which are heightened when he touches people (hmm, very Dead Zone). When several of these visions appear linked to a high-profile murder case, he attempts to seek redemption by assisting the police.
Empathy seems to have had a troubled post-production. As stated above, it's being screened several months after the other Carnival productions, and although originally intended and announced as being a two part mini-series, it's been re-edited into a single 90 minute TV movie. That said, Empathy is not being simply dumped into the schedules; the Beeb are heavily hyping it, with trailers being played for the last several days.
Stephen Moyer was last seen alongside Anna Wilson-Jones in Channel 4's NY-Lon, but to me he'll always be Jack Davenport's best friend in Ultraviolet. Also starring in Empathy is the striking Heather Peace, best known for Ultimate Force and currently playing a bunny-boiling psycho in The Chase.

I've got the DVD but I hadn't watched it for years until they repeated it on the Sci Fi Channel a few months ago. Just made me remember how much I loved it. It was a brilliant, top quality show and the best thing is, it hasn't dated at all and is every bit as watchable today as it was when it was first aired.

if ever a show was deserving of a second series it was Ultraviolet...absolutely brilliant.

Watched Empathy last night, and although the general response on other message boards I've visited today has been negative, personally I liked it. Okay, it didn't contain anything that we haven't seen before, but it was well cast, highly watchable, and added a few nice touches to the 'person with psychic powers assists police' formula. I hope the ratings were good enough to have further episodes greenlit.
