Colin Salmon can be seen on BBC2 at 22:00 this coming Monday (26/07/10) in the fifth episode of new sitcom Rev. Salmon guest-stars as Leon, a parishioner hoping to get married at inner-London church St. Saviour's (the show's central location), who befriends titular character Adam, played by Tom Hollander. Praised by the critics, Rev seems to have rapidly become a word-of-mouth hit. Expect the entire series to be swiftly repeated on BBC1 once it's initial screening has finished on BBC2, and for BBC1 to nab the second season.

Colin Salmon stars in the independent horror thriller Devil's Playground, which was released on Region 2 DVD today (11/10/10). Judging by the trailer and publicity material, the film appears to be an attempt to create the British equivalent of a Resident Evil movie. Also amongst the cast are: Doomsday's Craig Conway; the ubiquitous Danny Dyer, who seems to turn up in a new direct-to-DVD movie every other week; MyAnna Buring, from Doomsday, Lesbian Vampire Killers and both Descent movies, who is rumoured to have been cast in the next two Twilight films; Hustle and Dexter's Jaime Murray; UK action movie veteran Craig Fairbrass; and Sean Pertwee.

The Beeb has released some details about Colin Salmon's new series Some Girls, a teen comedy for BBC Three: Some Girls is about the lives and loves of a group of quirky 16-year-old girls who play on the same school football team and live on the same inner city estate. We join them on their bumpy journey through adolescence taking in boys, sex, cliques, teachers, heartbreak, fun and even some football along the way.
At the heart of the comedy is Viva (Adelayo Adedayo, Skins), whose ambition is to “stay motivated” and become a top child psychologist on Living.
In the meantime she’s happy analysing her friends. She lives with her dad Rob (Colin Salmon - Rev, Todd Margaret, James Bond, Resident Evil) who is “hot for an old guy” and her stepmother Anna (Dolly Wells - Spy, Star Stories), a New Zealander who also happens to be Viva's sadistic PE teacher.Source

The ratings in America for the first two episodes of Arrow have been so impressive that the CW network has ordered a full season (22 episodes) of the show. They've also started releasing individual weekly trailers, starting with the second episode; Trailer for Episode #2 'Honour Thy Father'Trailer for Episode #3 'Lone Gunman'Trailer for Episode #4 'An Innocent Man'I don't have Sky anymore, so I can't watch Arrow, but before the series started it was generally assumed that it would be heavily influenced by Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, in the same way that the excellent 1990-1991 television series The Flash was clearly indebted to Tim Burton's Batman (1989). However, judging by comments made on various forums, the look, tone and feel of Arrow seems to be inspired by the 2004 movie Daredevil, which is good news as far as I'm concerned, because although it's already dated in some ways (overuse of wirework, unnecessary CGI, ill-fitting rock songs shoehorned into the soundtrack) Daredevil remains my favourite superhero film.

The CW's official synopses for Episodes #1 - 4 of Arrow; SPOILER WARNINGEpisode #1: 'Pilot' After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. Back in Starling City, Oliver slowly reconnects with those closest to him, his devoted mother Moira, beloved sister Thea, and best friend Tommy Merlyn, but struggles with his ex-girlfriend Dinah 'Laurel' Lance, who blames him for her sister's death. Oliver has brought back many new skills from his time on the island and despite the watchful eye of his new bodyguard John Diggle, Oliver manages to secretly create the persona of Arrow - a vigilante - to right the wrongs of his family and fight the ills of society. As Arrow, Oliver will atone for the past sins of his family while he searches for the personal redemption he needs.
Episode #2: 'Honour Thy Father' Oliver heads to the courthouse to get his death certificate repealed and is pleasantly surprised to run into Laurel, who is there prosecuting Martin Somers, a criminal with ties to the Chinese Triad. Oliver recognizes Martin's name from his father's book and sets his sights on taking him down. Martin orders the Triad to "take care of" Laurel so they send their top mercenary – China White (played by Kelly Hu) – after her, an act that culminates in a battle between Arrow and China White. Meanwhile, Moira and Walter (Colin Salmon) ask Oliver to take over the company.
Episode #3: 'Lone Gunman' Oliver is surprised when someone shoots and kills one of his targets. As his plan is to bring people to justice vs. outright killing them, Oliver doesn't appreciate the help and searches for the gunman. He soon learns that the man, Deadshot (guest star Michael Rowe), is taking out businessmen who are scheduled to bid at an auction on an energy company and Walter is one of the bidders. Realizing he can’t protect his family and stop Deadshot at the same time, Oliver enlists Detective Lance's help, but his plan has dire consequences. Meanwhile, Laurel and Tommy get caught in an awkward situation with Oliver.
Episode #4: 'An Innocent Man' Oliver still hasn't figured out how to get back in Laurel's good graces, but a late night bonding session with Thea gives him the inspiration he needs. Looking into a suspicious murder case, Oliver realizes an innocent man, Peter Declan, was framed by one of the targets on his list. As Arrow, he asks Laurel to help prove Declan's innocence. Meanwhile, Walter (Colin Salmon) asks one of his employees, Felicity Smoak, to look into a $2.6 million withdrawal that Moira made without his knowledge.Source

The Beeb has released some details about Colin Salmon's new series Some Girls, a teen comedy for BBC Three. Some Girls debuts on BBC Three at 22:00 this Tuesday (06/11/12). Most TV critics have already pigeon-holed the show (probably correctly) as being an attempt to make a female version of Channel 4's hugely successful The In-Betweeners.

The ratings in America for the first two episodes of Arrow have been so impressive that the CW network has ordered a full season (22 episodes) of the show. That won't stop it getting cancelled and then criminally being denied a DVD release. /bitter Secret Circle fan/ In all seriousness, I hope Arrow can keep it up. Really impressed with what I've seen so far (the pilot and episode two; I need the Christmas break to come so I stand a chance of catching up on the rest).
