i think hex has quite alot in common with buffy some of the charicters in particular. Azazeal for instance is very simalar to Angel. cassie is like buffy in that they are both unlikly heroins. and roxan is very like cordelia.
The storyline is the only thing where hex differs drasticly from buffy in my opinion.
