Nah, I hate retch-comedies :X They're so unneccesarily gross and the humours all about sex and farting... not my type of thing whatsoever! *nod* I didn´t like it much, either, because of the reasons you gave. I didn´t even really watch the Scary Movies so far But by the way, who played Kathryn in Not Another Teen Movie, Mia Kirshner, right? Well, for now I´m just waiting for the release of the DVD of The Village, haha, on that score Germany´s really lame -.-

Ah. The grudge was pathetic. I jumped at about one place to, after that it was just ridiculous, not scary at all. I want to see that hide and seek.

I guess really have to watch the second part too it, or at least the Japanese version to fully understand, WHAT THE HELLS GOIN' OFF! Well, yeah, it has a pretty neat plot to it. And although i have not seen ze second part, i have heard quite a bit of the story. Personally, i thought the movie was quite good. And if you think the American version sucks, i very much doubt you will like the Japanese version. Japanese version > Low cut movie > Not as scary > And you have to read ze subtitles.

I don't know why American continues to re-make Japanese horror. Tartan Asia Extreme are the best company for making eerie horrors that make your skin crawl and then Dreamworks (being unoriginal as they are) feel the need to re-make every movie they've ever seen!
I watched Korean film A Tale of Two Sisters which is so scary I can't watch it by myself! It's just one of those films which doesn't have many "jump moments" but is just eerie throughout with clever directing.
And what do I discover? Dreamworks are gonna ruin it by making a US version of it? Can't they just not be lazy and watch the original and read the subtitles. You just KNOW the sisters are gonna be some 29 year old baywatch types lol

'course they will be, they'll be all blonde and busty blah blah blah. Just out of interest, did anyone find the exorcist scary? I thought it was hilarious...

The Excorist was a bit silly in parts. However, there are several parts which genuinely scared me: 1. The candle flaring up in the loft. 2. The dream that the priest has about his mum

The whole factor of it being based on a real life event kinda freaky me out. I read somewhere, that the real story (That the film is based on) It happened to a boy, rather then a female, and he still lived today o.O The film didn't really scare, me except for that one part where you get a glimpse of the Devil, but i heard people had heart attacks and commited suicide in real life over that part, so a little jump was nothing compared to that XD

Well in all honesty, if it did happen and it happened to a bloke then why not cast a bloke? I'll tell you - ratings. No one cares if some scary thing kills some random man. They wanna see the girls suffer so they can feel sorry for them, etc, etc. JimJamz - you're right, they probably will be all blonde (sarah michelle gellar, naomi watts, etc) and stuff Yuffie - you best rent it, cos it's well worth watching!!! So much better than The Ring and The Grudge!

It didn't happen to a bloke it happened to a little boy in the 1950's and there was a film made of it with a boy in it later on staring Timothy Dalton but the film is based on the book by William Peter Blatty, which was simply inspired by the newspaper articles on the little boy, it wasn't ever a factual account of the actual possession of the little boy.
I find the Exorcist scary but more on a psychological level rather than in terms of "jumpy bits". I read the book first and that is brilliant and more disturbing than the film. I suppose in some ways it depends on your religious beliefs and oppinons too (I think I've said this before) and your notions of evil and the devil.
What scares me really is the indiscriminate nature of the possesion. A little girl who's done nothing evil or wrong but its taken over by pure evil anyway. I think you get that a lot more in the book though.

Suppose your right. I really want to read the book sometime, I've been told it's really frightening. But the bit when she backcrawls down the stairs lmAo! www.angryalien.com(Worth going on, has the exorcist re-enacted in 30 seconds by bunnys)

LoL yes I've seen that, they do Titanic and The Shining too. The spider walk thing where she crawls down the stairs is a lot more horrible and painful sounding in the book.

Ugh, I can imagine. I think a walk/limp/movement, etc can be alot more terrifying than a jump moment, cos it's slow and determined.... its why zombies are so appealing to horror fans! They're slow, but they'll always catch up with you.....
