I thought this might be a useful piece of information, adding to the mythology that Hex borrows from.
The Seraphim (singluar Seraph) were associated with the Cherubim and later considered to be angels.
"The root of Seraphim comes either from the Hebrew verb saraph ('to burn') or the Hebrew noun saraph (a fiery, flying serpent)." So basically they became known as "fiery serpents"; they were thought to be serpentine in form and associated constantly with fire and immolation, for good reason.
It was rumoured that whoever laid eyes on a Seraph would instantly be immolated due to the immense light radiating from it (kind like walking onto the sun I suppose) .
They were described as very tall, with 6 wings and 4 heads. One set of wings was for flying, one for covering genitalia and the other for covering their feet.
They stood in the direct presence of God, they surrounded him.
Some angels rumoured to be Seraphim in the bible: Metatron, Kemuel, Nathanael, Gabriel, and Lucifer.
I had to look the names up, so the list may differ depending on where the information comes from.

Hmm that pretty much concurs with what I knew about the seraphim, I suppose it's another area where Hex writers have invented their own mythology....the fire thing fits but the soul eating/virgin bit....
Does anyone remember the X Files did an episode on the Nephilim and the Seraphim?

Barakiel (the neph Ella killed in the firs episode) was one of 7 ruling Seraphim according to the bit I posted on the other thread.

I may need to rewatch the episode but didn't the Seraph thing turn out to be a Nephilim? That always confused me. It's been a while so I may be going mad...

No there was a seraph and a nephilim as far as I can remember, I think the seraph was there to distract Ella from the attack from whichever nephilim it was...I haven't seen that episode in ages though.

But it's been a while since I saw that episode, but I think that when the 'seraph' appears in the woods during daytime and starts the fire, it was actually Barakiel, mimicking the characteristics and behaviour of a seraph as part of a plan to lure an underprepared Ella into a trap. The truth about the creature's identity was passed by Cassie to Thelma in a kiss (in a bizarre waste of a major plot device), enabling Thelma to intervene and save Ella at the episode's climax.
