Only caught the end of this week's episode of Doc Martin, but apparently Joseph's character has been sacked from the restaurant. Don't know if that's going to be the last we see of him.

It's being reported that Joseph Morgan has been cast in the role of Klaus in The Vampire Diaries: Joseph Morgan has reportedly landed the role of Klaus in The Vampire Diaries.
TV Line claims that Morgan has now signed up to play the powerful, original vampire.
Morgan has appeared in a number of British shows such as Casualty, Doc Martin and Hex and he also starred in the movies Alexander and Master And Commander.Source

I don't watch The Vampire Diaries, but from what I've read about the show in SFX magazine, Klaus has been hyped up throughout the second season as being the Biggest and Baddest of the Big Bads. If Morgan does a good job in the role, some of the Vampire Diaries fanbase may look up what else he's done, and discover Hex for themselves.

I watch Vampire Diaries and yes Klaus has certainly been hyped up to be the "first vampire" big bad etc. Have to say I'm not so sure on the casting as I think Joseph Morgan always seemed too puppy-doggish to be an "Azazeal" type of character, but hopefully I shall be proved wrong!

Joseph Morgan joins Twitter (not verified, but he's apparently been confirmed as the Real Deal by a Vampire Diaries co-star):- twitter.com/_josephmorganHmm. Maybe it's time there was a Hex on Twitter thread somewhere...

Has anyone seen Joseph Morgan's episodes of The Vampire Diaries yet? Just wondering how he's shaping up as the biggest baddest vampire of all time.

Joseph Morgan has been turning up in Casualty the last couple of months, in a recurring role as a villainous drug-dealer, and now comes the news that he's been cast in the title role in an American TV mini-series version of Ben Hur. Ben Hur will receive its UK premiere next month as part of Channel 5's Christmas schedule: www.express.co.uk/posts/view/285827/New-Ben-Hur-epic-in-Channel-5-s-stocking

Joseph Morgan has bagged another film role, in the somewhat creepy sounding Open Grave: Max Wrottesley, Joseph Morgan, Thomas Kretschmann, Josie Ho and Erin Richards have been cast in Open Grave.
District 9 star Sharlto Copley was recently cast in the lead role for the upcoming thriller.
The six actors will each portray a character who wakes up next to an open grave of decaying bodies with no idea how they got there.Source

Deadline reports that a Vampire Diaries spin-off is being planned, with Joseph Morgan and former Secret Circle member Phoebe Tonkin as the leads; The CW is piloting The Originals, a potential spinoff of the network’s flagship series The Vampire Diaries, in consideration for next season. The project, from Vampire Diaries co-creator/executive producer Julie Plec, will be introduced as an upcoming episode of Vampire Diaries that will air April 25, serving as a potential backdoor pilot. It stars popular Vampire Diaries cast member Joseph Morgan and the series’ recent addition Phoebe Tonkin. The Originals centers on the Original family of vampires, as Klaus (Morgan) returns to the supernatural melting pot that is the French Quarter of New Orleans — a town he helped build centuries ago — and is reunited with his diabolical former protégé Marcel. Tonkin also stars, reprising her Vampire Diaries character as werewolf Hayley that was introduced this past fall. Plec will write the backdoor pilot episode and executive produce The Originals with Alloy Entertainment’s Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo for Alloy, Warner Bros TV and CBS TV Studios. A potential involvement of Vampire Diaries co-creator/exec producer Kevin Williamson, who is busy with his Fox drama series The Following, is unclear. The CW has long been mulling spinning off hit Vampire Diaries, now in its fourth season. For Tonkin, this marks the second time she would be headlining a series for the network and WBTV following her starring role in The Secret Circle.Source

Deadline reports that a Vampire Diaries spin-off is being planned, with Joseph Morgan and former Secret Circle member Phoebe Tonkin as the leads. I'm all for the spin-off, as long as Elijah and Rebekah make regular appearances too. Not sure about Phoebe Tonkin being part of the cast, though. She was fantastic as Faye--she's the only true breakout star to have emerged from The Secret Circle--but the less showy role of Hayley hasn't done her many favours so far. If the CW is that hellbent on keeping her part of the network, the least they could do is give her a decent character to work with. And maybe a voice coach too, to help with that pesky American accent.

The SFX website give their thoughts about The Originals and it's potential;
Network: The CW. Starring: Joseph Morgan (The Vampire Diaries), Claire Holt (The Vampire Diaries), Daniel Gillies (The Vampire Diaries), Phoebe Tonkin (The Vampire Diaries), Charles Michael Davis (The Game), Daniella Pineda (The Vampire Diaries), Danielle Campbell (The Vampire Diaries), Leah Pipes (Three Guesses Which Show She Also Appeared In). Main creative forces: From executive producer/writer Julie Plec (The Vampire Diaries) and Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo (also The Vampire Diaries stalwarts – there’s a theme here). One-line pitch: The Vampire Diaries meets Interview With A Vampire (well, it’s set in New Orleans, so it’s either that or Treme). The skinny: On 25 April The Vampire Diaries will air an episode called “The Originals”, which will spin off into this new series. Focusing on the original family of vampires who went on to spawn so much trouble and so many bad flashback wigs, The Originals stars Klaus (Morgan) and has him returning to his old stomping ground, the French Quarter of New Orleans, to get up to all sorts of mischief. Once there he meets up with his brother Elijah (Gillies) and all sorts of things happen that don’t involve Mystic Falls at all. Initial thoughts: What do you do when your show about two vampire brothers and their One True Love accidentally spawns a vampire who threatens to become more popular than they are? You give him his own show, of course! It worked for Angel when he got too big for Buffy, so who knows if it’ll do the same for Klaus? He has been stuck in Mystic Falls for way too long, so it’ll be good to see him step into the limelight at last. Plus he’s brought his interesting gang of fellow supernaturals with him. This could be good if it feels fresh enough, and Morgan has undeniable charisma… but could The Originals sink under its own mythology, with newbies unsure of what to make of it, and Vampire Diaries fans finding their diet now too vampire-rich?
