*Shakes head* My friend watched it for the grand total of three minutes and declared it crap. "Jaime, she was perving on her in the shower! Its all lesbian" The rest of my friends, although they've never watched it, think its all about lesbians Yesterday I had hex pictures for my art book, and Cassie was getting called 'the randy lesbian' The conversation went like this: Them: Oh, she's a lesbian. So I'll stick her picture next to the fish. Me: What please? Thats the lesbian *points to picture of Thelma* Them: There both lesbians. It went on like that for a whole hour. I gave up.

Yeah it's silly. Willow or Tara fans never got that rap because their relationship was made too... well, twee. They were all huggies and smiles and strolls in the park, whereas Thelma's a bit more realistic in the sense of "yes, I'm a lesbian! I'm gay! Duuuuuh!" in Buffy it was only ever really mentioned on occasion. People are scared of it. Silly.

Exactly! On the sky one board I remember people criticising Thelma as not being realistic, when I think shes far more down to earth and real than most TV lesbians. Thank the lord shes not the Americansised version where the woman dabbles, is a lesbian for a few episodes just to get the men going but don't worry because shes straight next week.

Yeah, I mean I know a couple of lesbians and they're not huge butch man-types (though know there are a fair few) but quite Thelma-esque actually. Not girly, but not afraid to be feminine.

All my gay friends are 'out' and happy in their sexuality, they don't hide it behind closed doors or limit themselves to stolls in the park lol! Thelma is incredibly realistic in comparison to what lesbians i know whereas Willow and Tara were as Kneetroll said played down a little too much! And as for your friends Jaimie..they seem to be at the shallow end of the maturity pool with all their fifteen years of experience (no offence to the younger ppl on here ) they probably think they are being 'cool' if they disregard people they don't know as lesbians and then ostracise them for that.... *breathes* ok that was a bit longwinded....

hear hear! Peoples views on sexuality are so funny sometimes. "I have nothing against gay people but...." "Bisexuals just want the best of both worlds..." "They're going through a phase..." I don't think such people realise what a big thing it is to come out in the first place or how confusing it can be. It's intersting for me working in a profession where people can cope with very camp gay men, very butch lesbians, but anything in between best keep it to yourself. There are always huge assumptions made about me and who my potential partners might be.

They are definatly very immature, they really need to grow up. I have one guy friend who says he's against gays, but not lesbians. Then I have a girl friend who is against lesbians, but not gays. It really annoys me, because they talk about it as if we all made a choice to start liking the same sex. One time I was with two friends (both girls) and they were talking about people they thought were lesbians etc. I shall protect there identitys Friend one: God, if I was a dyke, I'd like slit my throat or something. Friend two (Massive hypocrite. She has a gay pride band, the dolt): Yeah, I think I'll stay straight thanks. Friend one: Yeah, me too. People like that should really try and experience what its all like. Must be damned nice to be so straight

Yeah one of my (female) friends was like "i don't get how you can know you like guys if you havn't done anything with one" and I'm like hello, you mean you had no idea you were straight until you first 'did something' with a guy? I think the trouble is people just don't really understand the whole thing, and don't try, so end up sounding like morons haha. And yeah, that comment is pretty hard to resist a response hehe

haha don't resist Matt/Kneetroll/Captain Oates...say it!!! ;D I also hate the way (some) guys say they don't have a problem with lesbians (we all know why that is) but they are so damned homophobic if theres the remotest possibility a guy they know is gay!! Grrargh
