For those who don't know, Birmingham was evacuated last night (more than 20,000 people) due to two suspicious packages being found; one on a bus, one in a Travel Inn. Hope anyone in Brum at that time (I was at home, thankfully!) is safe now They're claiming this isn't connected to the London bombings. How can they say that? It's probably a warning of what they wanna do to us

We must believe in luck. For how else can we explain the success of those we don't like.

Nobody was hurt, everyone remained in good spirits and the police carried out several controlled explosions on the suspicious packages, but both turned out to be duds.
All is normal now, but it's still unnerving.

Oh god I didn't know that (apparantly it's in the paper, which I failed to read this morning.oops)
It's so crap how we have to be on terrorist alert! Stupid freaking terrorists, can I take a blonde view and suggest we put them all together on an island and nuke it!
Forgetting the fact that that makes us as bad as them..
and the fact that we can't ever be sure we got all of the terrorists..
or where they are..
or that it is ethical in anyway..
or an even vaguely good idea..
damn ok forget I said anything..

I think you just have to be a bit fatalistic about it...theres no way of knowing whats going to happen where so you just have to get on with it. I'm an RAF brat and I remember the camp being on alerty during the IRA bombings, security checks and checking under the car and stuff....you just have to get on with it.
