I mean - you've got the Make Poverty History link in your signature. I think that could do more than a White Bangle. You can't even SEE what's written on them, so it could be anything! Did you know they even sell PLATINUM bangles that you can wrap yer cheapo rubber one round?

Awesome, i;m getting one on my shoulder after wearing fake ones forever LOL!!, i plan on getting it for my birthday & i know i'll cry . So how does the pain actually feel like, what do you have to do after you have the tattoo, keep it covered etc etc.

Don't get me wrong, it hurts like hell - it's a very sharp, obvious pain (imagine getting a sewing needle and digging it into your skin, scraping it along, but vibrating at the same time). You'll bleed obviously, but not much.
When you clean it DON'T use E45 itch relief cream - it'll take the colour out! Use Savlon or Tattoo Goo (you should be able to buy some from your tattooist)

ooh I like the Ankh symbol. I wear one on a necklace as kind of a protection/good luck thing when I'm feeling less than joyus.

Only peice of advice I feel I have the authority to give is: make sure you feel you HAVE to have it before you go, cos I know people who have regretted tattoos and now can't bear to look at them.

Bizzarely Preparation H is also good for keeping tattoo's moisturised. I have a celtic trefoil just above my ankle on my right leg. It's about 8 years old now but I went to a really good tatooists so it still looks really crisp and good. I would recommend checking around and finding out who is well reguarded in the area.

Ooh yes and don't ever be afraid to ask questions.
- Is their equipment clean? - Do they use a clean needle for each customer? (if the answer is no, DO NOT use them!) - Can they give you thorough cleaning/care advice? - How long have they done this? - Can you see photographic examples of their work? (any good tattoo artist will have either customers willing to showcase their arms/legs/etc for you or photos of him tattooing something really complicated)

Yah some people have no clue what "subtle" means. Also, I don't mean to sound sexist and/or hypocritical, but large tatoos on women can look.... wrong. I'd never have anything bigger than what I have now.
