I never caught Point Pleasant when it was screened in the UK, and I've read various reviews stating that it was too slow-moving and often resembled an OC-style teen soap opera (although the show's supernatural elements are apparently pushed to the forefront in the closing episodes). But I'm currently feeling so starved of anything remotely Hex-like, that I'm starting to consider buying the DVD boxset. Hex was often called 'the British Buffy', a misleading and lazy description that I never liked or agreed with. But due to certain similarities between the two series, I suppose it could be argued that Point Pleasant was 'the American Hex'. Below is a link to a well written and particularly detailed review that I found of the show's DVD release. It even compares Hex favourably against Point Pleasant; www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/pointpleasant.php

Elizabeth Harnois can be seen in tonight's episode of Dirt on Fiver (the channel formerly known as Five Live) at 21:00. She plays a famous, blonde, spoilt little rich girl named Milan Carlton. Any resemblance to a real-life blonde American celebrity heiress is entirely intentional.

Cameron Richardson, who played Paula Hargrove in Point Pleasant, had a major role in Harper's Island, another horror TV series which recently ended in America. The BBC have reportedly purchased Harper's Island and it's going to be shown on BBC Three later this year.
The current issue of FHM magazine (the one with Eliza Duchku on the cover) has a two-page photospread of Richardson in a bikini. The magazine predicts that she'll gain sex symbol status in the UK when Harper's Island is screened.

Harper's Island starts on BBC Three this coming Sunday (06/09/09) at 21:00, with a double bill of episodes. They're repeated later that night at 23:05 and again the following Friday (11/09/09) at 22:30. Presumably subsequent episodes will be repeated in the same slots.
The title of each episode is the sound made when a character gets killed in that particular episode, hence the first episode is called 'Whap' and the second is 'Crackle' (electrocution, no doubt).
