Point Pleasant?! eminantly missable. I'm really not surprised it got cancelled and Mari Noxon should hang her head in shame.  There are better shows that have come out of the Whedonite camp, such as Prison Break (Marti is consulting producer on the show) and The Inside (Tim Minear - sadly also cancelled). |

I'm entitled to an opinion about it. I personally think it was pretty dire. I appreciate Marti's work, like I said I think Prison Break, which she's involved in is brilliant. Loved Buffy, loved Angel, I just happen to think that Point Pleasant was a really poor attempt at a genre show.
Last time I checked, having a difference of opinion over something wasn't a crime, it's what makes like interesting. Rather than just blasting me, how about giving me reasons why it was so great...the power of persuasion.
I'll tell you why I think it was bad.
Weak characterisation with over used cliched characters which were pretty un-original in the genre and really in a post buffy world seemed a bit pointless.
Weak acting performances from Sam Page and Elisabeth Harnois, both attractive but neither strong enough to carry off the scenes the were doing, plus they were out gunned in terms of acting by Grant Show every time he came on screen.
The whole child of the devil struggling with their good/evil side has been done much better by earlier shows, most notably American Gothic.
There were some good stand alone episodes but on the whole it turned in to The OC with added black magic, not really my thing so that point is a personal preferance.
Under used supporting actors, Adam Busch for example who we know is capable of so much more than standing in the background looking sinister and mumbling a few line.
Thats just a few reasons.
If you disagree fine, but at least give me some good reasons why.

I'm quite sure that Elisabeth Harnois is a lovely person, I never said she wasn't, what I said was that I don't think her performance in the show was very strong.

I hated Point Pleasant, personally. It was dull, boring and nothing at all new. Considering a member of the Buffy staff worked on it, you'd at least expect some humour, but nope. Twas Dawson's Creek with ESP!

next time Point Pleasant is on i'll watch it and then i'll post the good points about it....just to keep the peace at least.
Good point about it from the advert was that the main girl appears to be a hottie which is always a big help in these shows! hehehe!

really stupid question but what is point pleasant about? It's about a girl who washes on the beach of a small coastal town called Point Pleasant. This girl is the daughter of the devil and a mortal woman and she has a strange effect on the town. The series also follows a few families and friends of the Kramers, the family that bring Elisabeth Harnois' character in with them. |

I accidently recorded an ep of PP the other night so i watched it and i wasn't overly impressed, from what i saw it wasn't a bad show but it was very slow and a little boring, nowhere near as good as Buffy, Hex, Xena....thats right i like Xena lol You know for someone who was supposed to be the spawn of Satan the girl was a little wimpish if you ask me! If i was the Devils daughter i'd be wreaking some havoc muhahahahaha  |
