The exorcist 3 is such a cash in. I mean it's better than the Exorcist 2 but it's nothing like as good as the first one.

not many sequels are ever better than the original film....like The Mummy for example a great film and then they give us The Mummy Returns which was just poo!

mmm i don't get scared easily either so whenever a film is able to make me jump outta my seat and wet my pants with fright i know its a really really good film lol Must say the begginning of The Grudge made me jump, the scene in the loft with the 'girls' face!

I've seen the Japanese version of the Ring but not the grudge, I think they are remaking another Japanese film called The Eye! which is no doubt going to be a little scary!

I need to find an actual scary horror film. I either just laugh at them or get stupidly bored *coughdarkwatercough*

Oh god I thought The Grudge was dire as was the remake of The Ring. Pile. of. pants. Not in the least bit scary either.
I don't think the Exorcist is scary in terms of jumps and thrills but as I've explained before at great length, it's scary on a conceptual level. I think that maybe some of the effects look odd to us now and it's been parodied and ripped off to death so some of it isn't shocking and new anymore. However as a concept it's brilliant and I'm not ashamed to say I find it really sinister and scary.
I do tend to prefer horror films where there aren't big obvious monsters jumping out at you. I like the slow build where you don't really know what's going on, like the original Alien.
I have to say though one film where I think that failed miserably was The Blair Witch Project. I saw it in America when I was working on a camp in the middle of the woods at the time so I was privy to the media campaign out there where they made out it was real. Given that I was working in an isolated woodlands I found it boring, dull and not even remotely scary.
When I came back to the UK and people were getting excited I kept saying "don't bother!" Would they listen? Would they heck.
