I start off this thread on Doctor Who by mentioning that yesterday I saw the movie version of Josie and the Pussycats. I had found out months ago from IMDb that there was a Doctor Who reference made in this movie. The reference turned out to be what appeared to be the TARDIS interior as part of a recording studio. Just found this from a review of the movie: www.flickfilosopher.com/flickfilos/archive/012q/josiepussycats.shtml "Why does MegaRecord's recording studio look like the console room of the TARDIS, and where is Doctor Who when you need him to fight universe-threatening evil like Josie and the Pussycats?"

Forgot to mention that Josie and the Pussycats featured Alan Cumming who had played Nightcrawler in X2. His other credits include Goldeneye, the Spy Kids movie & Eyes Wide Shut. In the couple of years before the announcement of the new Doctor Who series, Cumming had been reported to be the choice to be the Doctor for the still unmade Doctor Who movie. Cumming however has already appeared in a project for Doctor Who fandom, in the spinoff video The Airzone Solution featuring Jon Pertwee, Peter Davison, Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy (but not as the Doctors, otherwise the BBC would have taken legal action) and Nicola Bryant (as another character called Brown but not Peri). Also featuring in The Airzone Solution were original Davros, Michael Wisher, Big Finish Producer Gary Russell and Big Finish stalwart and voice of the Daleks in the new series, Nicholas Briggs.
The producer of Josie and the Pussycats was a Marc Platt but from IMDb this is not the same Marc Platt who wrote the 1989 Doctor Who serial Ghost Light.
Meanwhile Trisha Goddard cast in Doctor Who: From Outpost Gallifrey: "According to today's Mirror, UK television chat show icon Trisha Goddard will star in the new series in an episode soon to be filmed that, according to a Mirror 'insider' is entitled I'm In Love With A Ghost. "Television chat queen Trisha Goddard is to star in Doctor Who...as herself. The Time Lord, played by David Tennant, will discover that Earth is overrun by ghosts in the new series before stumbling upon Trisha's show. ... Trisha asks, 'Can you trust him if he's always appearing and disappearing?' It's hilarious." Goddard currently stars in her own series on Five. (Thanks to John Freeman, Peter Weaver)"
Trisha Goddard had previously made a cameo as herself in The Second Coming starring Chris Eccleston and written and exec produced by Russell T. Davies.

I don't think it's crap but I have to ask the relevance of this thread matthewsee? Do you want to start a discussion about Doctor Who or about Alan Cumming or what?

No it isn't except Jon Pertwee. This plus the fact that the BBC Chairman Michael Grade who is well known for hating Doctor Who is now a Who convert after admitting liking the new series. If Doctor Who is now good enough for the number one Doctor Who hater then there is something wrong with your opinion of it being crap which it is not. Are you saying that you are not watching the new series simply because the old series is crap because that is an unfair assessment. The new series should be judged on its own merits and not from what has already been said about the old series I don't think it's crap but I have to ask the relevance of this thread matthewsee? Do you want to start a discussion about Doctor Who or about Alan Cumming or what? That is a silly question since there are threads about Harry Potter, Supernatural & Buffy in this section to name a few examples. Of course this is a general discussion on Doctor Who. This is where all Doctor Who-related topics will be posted. Other non-Doctor Who forums have a general thread about Doctor Who. I don't see why this forum should not have one as well. One of the episodes in the new series The Long Game was directed by Brian Grant. I believe you all know who this is. This plus the fact that the Second Doctor, Patrick Troughton is the grandfather of Sam Troughton.

hey there's no need to talk to me as if I've been labotomised, I'm well aware that there are discussion threads of other shows but if you look at those you'll see that most people started them off with a question or a point of discussion rather than a big quote. It wasn't obvious what the point was that you were making. Also secondly we're well aware of the Hex connections as Doctor Who has already been much discussed on this board given that we've all seen the new episodes here in the UK. My big reason for asking is because as a moderator one of our jobs is to make sure the board doesn't get cluttered with duplicate or pointless threads and if you'd done a search for Doctor Who threads before you posted you would have seen that there was already a thread you could post in. hexfan.proboards28.com/index.cgi?board=generalchat&action=display&thread=1114973940I recommend that because you're a relative newbie that you do a search that covers the last year before you post just so that a) you can see what we've already been discussing and b) to avoid duplicate threads. Thanks.

I did do a search for "Doctor Who" in the search engine but it came out nothing. Since you posted the link for the other thread I will be posting in that one instead. So if you like you can closed or merged this thread with the other one. No hard feelings.
