The latest news and developments on the Doctor Who spin-off series starring John Barrowman as Captain Jack. (Check with the search engine and see that no one else has started a thread on it.) http://www.torchwoodtv.blogspot.com./ "First things first, this breaking news item was originally posted on www.bbc.co.uk/news but the item mysteriously vanished after a couple of hours or so (Torchwood operatives are obviously wanting to keep this one secret for a while!), but alas, we Woodies cannot be silenced. This move though does question the honesty of the following story, but I believe it to be the truth, so without further ado, ladies and gentlemen, let me present Gwen, at long long last...Eve Myles!"

the official press release is up now: www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/news/cult/news/drwho/2006/02/24/29846.shtmlEve Myles played Gwyneth in the episode The Uniquet Dead. Gwyneth/Gwen do you think they're going to try and link the characters? Anyway I thought she was really good in that episode, so alongside our Captain Jack (who's looking rather dashing in that picture) it should make for interesting watching!

In the Doctor Who DVD boxset in the special feature The Adventures of Captain Jack, John Barrowman was interviewed about playing Jack and I assumed this was recorded before the announcement of Torchwood as it ended with him saying this: "I would love if Captain Jack had his own series. I think that would be, for me personally, that would be awesome, that would be cool. But whether or not...it would have to be... It would have to be another kind of time dimension in parallel or what would be kind of cool. 'Cause then you could do all these, kind of specials where they meet, boom! And then they go off again. I'd love that. Yeah, I could see Captain Jack with his own... Yeah, I could see Captain Jack with his own TV show! Hell, yeah!"

More Torchwood cast members have been announced. The wonderfully named Burn Gorman will play Owen Harper, the team's medic, while Naoko Mori will reprise the role of Toshiko Sato, which she first played in the Doctor Who episode 'Aliens of London' last year. Her character has become Torchwood's technical expert.
In addition, it's been revealed that in one of the early episodes the team will be battling 'evil fairies'. Take note, Perie fans.

It sounds... lame I mean, using alien technology to solve crimes? Isn't that just a tacky excuse to use the Dr. Who name and some of the characters to get ratings? Those sorts of shows never last long, can't see it doing brilliantly myself...

I hope they're not going to name drop it every bloody week though. That would get very annoying very quickly.

Bad Wolf was cool though, we all KNOW bloody Torchwood is coming.
I did enjoy tonights episode though...Tony Head stealing scenes with no effort, I was even quite touched at a couple of points. Rose, deffinitely getting annoying now though.

Heh. She still hot.
...I need to drop his horny guy image I'm projecting. It's only like this on this board. I'm sweet, innocent and gentlemanly like on other boards.

..yeahh sure! I liked last night's episode! The jealousy between Rose and Sarah was funny and I love David Tennant! But Anthony Head, besides his evil hair, was great - he can do no wrong! Rose is getting annoying though, her accent still really bugs me at times too *snob* ...not sure if I want Mickey intruding on all the Doctor-Rose storylines but he is funny and it may give Rose an excuse to either pipe down or bugger off for a bit

I like that Mikey kind of bumbles around in the Doctor's world but they don't want to make him too much the comic relief because that will get boring. He must be reasonably smart if he's busy hacking government systems and sussing out potential threats to earth.
I do think that Billie is spot on with Rose it's just that I think we've seen pretty much all Rose has to offer now (I'm more than willing to be proved wrong.) We've seen her do terrified, we've seen her do heroic, we've seen her do lovestruck and we've seen her do heartbroken. I'm getting fed up with the whole puppy dog eyes 'I'm soooo in to you' routine now though.
