Some of you may have heard in the news earlier this week about the play Allegiance, which is playing at the Edinburgh Festival.
The news stories have centred over the fact that comedian Mel Smith is playing Winston Churchill in the play, but Edinburgh Council's health & safety regulations have meant that he's not allowed to smoke Churchill's trademark cigars on stage.
Have just learnt that Smith's co-star in the play is Michael Fassbender, who plays Irish Republican leader Michael Collins.
Allegiance is currently playing at the Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh.

oh yeah, I heard about it a while ago, the promoter from the Assembly rooms emailed me the details. I really should have posted it on here shouldn't I!
The reviews have been very mixed. Massive amounts of praise for both Mel Smith and Michael but a lot of frustration at the style of the play where the discourse between Winston Churchill and Michael Collins (who Michael F. is apparently related to!) is broken up by 'narration' by the director.
Hopefully the play will get transfered to London...that would be cool!
