Another teenage Buffy/ Twilight/vampire-themed TV series is currently in production. However, it's being made for Israeli television and will be in Hebrew. Here's a link to a news article about Split, complete with a promo image of the young cast in character. Here's a trailer for Split, complete with English voice-over and subtitles; www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5BUjmc8zjEMy two cents: Well, the school looks a little too obviously like a studio set (probably due to budgetary limitations) and they've gone overboard with the moody lighting. Not too sure about those older-looking vampires standing about half-naked like extras in an early-Nineties Madonna video, either. But this still looks intriguing. Apparently the show's heroine is called Ella!

They've shown a few subtitled European dramas on BBC4 - keep an eye out for the excellent French crime drama Spiral. I agree it's a shame we don't see more, though. I'd love to see some of SOKO Leipzig after the crossover they did with The Bill last year but ITV would probably consider a subtitled show to be too high brow for their target audience. A few more foreign TV shows are creeping into the British schedules. In addition to Spiral (which orokiah mentioned above), BBC4 are currently showing the original Danish version of Wallander. And starting tomorrow (02/08/09) and continuing the next two Sundays, ITV1 are screening the Irish police drama Single Handed at primetime (!).

Another vampire themed show for the teen Twilight lovers out there, is The Vampire Diaries, which is going to be shown after Supernatural on The CW network in the States. To be fair though the books of The Vampire Diaries were apparantly written before the Twilight ones, so its not really copying. Having proven to be a big success in the U.S., The Vampire Diaries makes it's UK debut on ITV2 next Tuesday (02/02/10) at 21:00. It's being repeated on Fridays at 20:00.
