Joseph Beattie

I am from the US and S2 of Hex just started here tonight. I noticed Joseph Beattie [who plays Malachi] and I was wondering if anyone knew anything about him. [Pics are most welcome, too!] I can't seem to find anything about him online. I think he is a good actor and not the least attractive man in the world.

I love this show I waited so long for this show to start up again, and I think he is a welcome addition to it.

he was born in 1978 (note how its on IMDB...i put it there)
when he was young he had a small part in drama The Browning Version at 13 (roughly it think) he then worked as a runner for a production company whilst taking a year out before being offered a place at Guildhall collage of music and drama. There he got a BA in acting. Whilst studying he had small roles in Velvet Goldmine as Cooper and in Nature Unleashed: Volcano (which i watched just today-the film itself was bad but joe was nice as a cute spanish photography shop owner...YUM) and Colditz with Sofia Myles. He then had roles in tv shows such as Holby City and Malice Aforethought, Vincent, Mansfield Park and HEX (as you know)
He recently did a short film alongside jemima rooper and carey mulligan (two other up and coming young stars) in Andrew Lee Potts short vampire film. (i have caps of that Grrrr!)
at the moment Joe is in Berlin shooting Fast TRack: No Limits which literally sprung at me just a second ago, which sounds awesome and as its writer wrote diagnosis murder and monk and i have a feeling it may be wuite good....
he has been for a while in production of eating dust as jamey barnes but nothing has come of it for a year so i dont know whats going on it may be because hes filming something else at the moment...

WOW! Thanks! I have a few more questions now:
1. Is the volcano movie worth seeing just for him?
1.5- can he pull off someone spanish?
2. Is the vampire film on dvd anywhere?
2.5- Can you send me any of the screen caps of him in it?

There's a Making Of there too that looks quite interesting but I haven't watched it all the way through so not sure how much Joseph Beattie there is in it.

its really good. Does anyone know what accent he uses in the film? To me it kind of sounds Italian.

It sounds like a kind of attempt at a Romanian accent. I didn't like that so much...it sounded too "I Vant to suck your blood" to me.

Interesting little film though. I like the style even if the content was a bit derivative.

I never really heard a Romanian accent. and the last time I watch a vampire movie was years ago. But I still really liked the film. It was good to see Joseph and Jemima outside of HEX. The only time I get to see British television is on BBC America and most of those shows are the shows like "Bargin Hunt" and those home improvement shows.

sorry i havnt been on for a while to answer your questions its exam time and i have to revise at least once...the accent he uses in blood on benefits is the same accent he used for nature unleashed: volcano, whch is basically a cross between spanish and romanian, but i think it just sounds a little more romainan because it is deeper...i think one of his best talents is that he can do so many different accents i mean in hex, he sounded like a brat..but in reality im sure he doesnt speak like that at all.
i used to run a joe beattie site but no one came to it, so for you when ive finished my exams ill do it up again and fill the gallery up with all the new things.
about your questions, i watched nature unleashed: volcano just for the pleasure of seeing joe, but be warned its is full of plot holes the story doesnt like and sometimes you really want to see more of joe, but even so it was quite fun to watch it, there were bits that would have been quite good if written better. so my view is if you dont mind seeing a badly written film full of plot holes just to see him like i did then do it, because it really isnt that much of a waste of time.
i personally think he can pull of some spanish, its a little round around the edges but he sounds HOT.!
i cant send you screencaps, cos i dont have any, i had some really bad ones i did with my phone cos i got a new phone for my birthday and they didnt look that good.

cool the volcano movie will be good it doesnt matter, i do actually think it was worth it. its just other poeple dont so i wasnt sure whether you would.
is the netfilx thing on the internet because you might be able to get good caps of him in in, the only reason i couldnt is because it was on tv and i have no other way of capping images of him in it.
