She slowly looked round, checking the demon was truely gone. The park was deserted. Without a moments hesititation she ran for it, back up to the school. She had to see Cassie...
***
"...Its not a case of what I've done. Its a case of what I can do" Azazeal smirked, his arm draped around Rose's shoulder. She wore a mocking smile, and as Cassie stared at her, she felt the anger bubbling inside. He'd sent someone to spy on her? "What do you mean? What have you got planned?" Cassie asked, her voice shaking with a mixture of fear and rage. Azazeal chuckled softly, and walked over to Cassie's bedside table, leaving Rose standing at the door. He bent slightly to retrieve something off it, his back turned to both of the girls. "Such a lovely picture" He said, straighening up and turning round. In his hands was the photo of Cassie and Thelma. He ran his finger across it, then looked up at the blonde. "Such a lovely girl, Thelma is. If not a bit meddlesome...but I can sort that out" "You cant..." Cassie whispered, staring at the image of Thelma, "You've done enough already" She ignored Rose, who by now was looking quite confused. Azazeal raised an eyebrow. "Dont underestimate me, Cassie" He said. Cassie shook her head, willing the tears in her eyes not to fall, willing herself not to show Azazeal any weakness. What was he planning? She had to see Thelma...without looking at either one of the people in the room she ran for the door, and wrenched it open quickly. As she ran out she felt the strangest sensation, as if she'd just been submerged in icy water. She'd only felt that once before... "Thelma! Dont go in there!"

Cassie felt herself stumble as the ghost passed through her body toward the open doorway she had just escaped through. Thelma stepped through the entrance turning to Cassie as she did so. "There you are! I've just seen..I..He..It..Cassie you have to be care-" a cold wind blew through the room the two had once shared passing through Thelma and causing Cassie's hair to blow, as the wind gathered speed Thelma was interrupted by the door slamming. Separating the two friends. One inside. One out. Cassie's eyes widened as she bolted toward the door, slamming her fists and hastily turning the now locked door knob. Tears she had fought now streamed down her face as panic overcame her. * Thelma felt a rush of air as her body was pulled backward with the ease of a child pulling a rag-doll. She landed in a heap underneath the window, her head making harsh contact with the radiator underneath. Blearily she looked upon her attacker and was greeted with the familiar presence of Azazeal and the not-so-familiar Rose. "What the-" "Now now Thelma, we don't want you setting a bad example upon Rose here..watch. your. tongue!" the patron-ism in his voice angered Thelma, all she could do was scowl as she rose to her feet. "You seem to enjoy being a ghost quite well. An area I overlooked when taking your life. But that can all be remedied-" "You can't kill me!" Thelma spat back indignantly "No" Azazeal replied cooly fingering a small locket in the palm of his hand "I've already done that" He looked up to face the ghost, passing the jewellery to Rose who remained smirking and silent by his side. "But I can do something much worse-" Thelma felt the same fear pulsing through her veins as she had in the grounds earlier that evening.. "-I can take Cassie away from you. Forever" "She'll never choose you!" Thelma eyed the angel confident of Cassie's love for her. "Ah you underestimate me my dear. She may not choose to be with me but if she believes you are at risk she will do anything.." The smugness of his voice only accentuated his evil ability. Before Thelma could speak the door flew open and Cassie fell through.. "What are you doing? Thelma are you-" Azazeal placed a long finger to his lips, silencing his former lover with a power only he appeared to wield over her. "I believe we may be able to come to some kind of arrangement.." "I'm not arranging anything with you!" Cassie's anger bubbled over as she saw the fear in her friends' eyes. "Oh I think you will"

Cassie laughed, surprising even herself.
"You've taken everything haven't you?"
She put a palm to her forehead. She sat down heavily on the bed.
"You don't just want to mess me up, you want to take every last piece of me. You want to destroy everything. So....why should I."
Anger flashed across Azazeal's face. "What!" He snapped back.
Cassie was laughing again. "I said why should I. If I make a deal with you, you'll just take more and more and more until I have nothing left. Either way I loose, but I'm sure as hell not going to give in to you."
Azazeal's eyes sparked pure fury and Thelma sat, still in her crumpled position on the floor, gobsmacked.
"Cass!" she called quietly to her friend. "Cass what are you doing? This isn't good." She looked warily at Azazeal. She needed to distract him so she chimed in to try and buy more time.
"She's right you know, you can do your tricks but what are you going to achieve?"
Azazeal laughed mockingly which only spurred Thelma on.
" You've done all the damage you can muster already....besides...."
She struggled for words, then hit on an idea, "....besides, you threaten me but what can you do? I met someone today who's far scarier than you....and to be frank Azazeal," Thelma began to get bold, " he has a lot more style going for him too. None of your old floaty Romantic crap...I'd say being an angel of death is a far more scary gig."
Azazeal turned quickly to look at Thelma his face tight, his jaw clenched. He stared at her as if taking in what she had said.
"Sariel." He muttered, more to himself than anyone else, seeming to forget where he was for a moment. "he's not supposed to be here. What's he playing at?"
To Cassie and Thelma's surprise he headed for the door, grabbing Rose's arm roughly and dragging her behind him, ignorant to her cry of pain.
Thelma breathed a sigh of relief as Cassie slid off the bed to sit on the floor next to her friend. She leaned back against the bed and rubbed her eyes wearily.
"Thelma?" she said, sounding exhausted,
"Yes?"
"Who in the hell is Sariel?"

Azazeal paced up and down the eerie room he and Michael occupied pausing only to kick a dusty chair across the room.. "temper temper.." Michael said un-enthusiastically Azazeal threw his son a glare but ended his pacing, his hands cupping the back of his head; a look of despair across his face. A slender arm slid around the angel's waist as Rose rotated herself into position in front of Azazeal. He looked down at her milky complexion, her flawless skin only accentuated by the blood red lipstick she wore, her eyes large and round-staring longingly into his. "Shall I leave you two alone?" Michael added smirking, swinging his child-like legs from the desk on which he was perched. Azazeal removed himself from Rose's grasp and slumped in a nearby armchair. The once red material now pale with age and dirt. "I don't see what the problem is really?" Michael chimed in once more.."As much as I love my Mother, I don't see why Rose here can't be your queen.. at least she's willing" he added quietly Rose's face lit up as she glanced at Azazeal. He returned her look with one of patronism. "I don't want her...and I always get what I want" * The room was filled with hundreds if not thousands of bodies, Cassie span around looking for escape but she was surrounded. The only sound; her own heart pounding in her ears and the panicky rasp of her own breath on the air. Her head ached as she strained to see their faces..the only light being a handful of candles toward the back of the room...the room she had been forced into..the room she was going to die in.. "Cassie!! Cassie!!" Thelma's voice rang out as the figures disappeared into the shadows and a bright light hurt Cassie's eyes. "Will you wake up for god's sake if I could slap you I would!" Cassie opened her eyes abruptly, so much so that Thelma jumped when her friend finally awoke. "That's more like it" she declared folding her arms with a grin "-what were you dreaming about anyway? You were making all sorts of noises" A thin line of sweat dampened Cassie's forehead as she ran her hands nervously through her hair. "I don't think it was a dream Thelma" she said with a certainty foreign to her. She could hear herself speaking but the proof of her words she did not know. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"I dont know...its whats going to happen" Cassie explained, sitting up. She didnt even know where all the words were coming from, but for some reason she knew they were true. "Your in danger. Im in danger. Were all in danger" She whispered, as if she'd only just realised. A single tear ran down her cheek as she looked at Thelma. "We need to get help. And fast"
***
"Bunty!"
Peggy grinned and held out her arms as Thelma walked into the room. She hadnt been to see her in the last few days, what with everything that had went on. She'd been reluctant to leave Cassie, especially when she'd told her about her dream, but her friend had made her go, to see if she'd had found out anything.
"So, what brings you hear at this late hour then?" Peggy asked once Thelma had settled down beside her, who's eyes travelled over the thick books that lay open on the table in front of them. "I need to know, Cassie needs to know...if you found out anything" She began, her eyes darting around the room. Peggy rested her hands on top of Thelma's fidgeting ones, and gave her a sad look. "Where to begin?"
***
Cassie paced around the room, waiting for Thelma to return. She promised she'd be as quick as possible, but asked Cassie not to wait up for her, as it might take some time. But she couldnt help it. She was restless. A dream like that would've creeped anyone out. She walked over to the window, staring out into the dark grounds. Everything was still, silent, heightening Cassie's sense of fear. It was too serene, too peaceful. Even the wind didnt seem to be blowing. She shook her head, as if trying to make her thoughts go away. As she focused on the glass again, she saw a dark figure reflected in it. Taking a deep breath, she turned round...
***
"...So the key to all of it, its...here?" Thelma asked Peggy, who nodded. Thelma raised an eyebrow, before jumping off the couch. "You will come back, wont you, bunty?" Peggy asked as the ghost turned to leave, "I do miss you when your gone" "'Course I will" Thelma said hoarsly, not even sure why she was upset. She gave the other ghost a faint smile before leaving the room. She made her way back to the dorm, going over exactly what Peggy had told her. She'd just began to climb the stairs when she heard the faint screams...coming from the direction of there room... Panic rising in her chest, she ran to the dorm. The door was closed. Her hand closed around the handle, and she slowly pushed the door open, terrified of what she'd find on the other side... There was no sign of a struggle. And there was no sign of Cassie.

An uneasy feeling rose in the pit of Thelma's stomach, she scanned the room for what seemed like the hundredth time. Cassie was gone. Blinking away tears Thelma's mind worked overtime as she struggled to think of a solution; a plan; a way to get her love back.. * Cassie's feet found the cold floor beneath her feet as she regained her balance, shaking of the grasp of her captor. A strange sensation flowed through her body like ice water had been pumped through her veins. She shivered as she eyed Azazeal stood opposite her. His arms folded and his face wore an expression of satisfaction Cassie didn't find too comforting. "I should've known.." Cassie was no longer scared of Azazeal, she spoke with a confidence that contradicted her situation "Had to send one of your minions to fetch me did you?" she cast a displeasing look at the stranger by her side, ready to pounce if she dared run. The poor lighting cast generous shadows upon Azazeal's handsome face, his chiseled features perfectly illuminated as he smiled at his former lover. "I didn't have to send anyone, but I feel my presence at your school. In your room may be arousing suspicion" raising an eyebrow he approached Cassie without any element of caution.. "Touch me and.." "and what?" "I'll..." "You'll what Cassie? Are you going to fight me? Kill me?" his laugh echoed across the stone walls surrounding the three, though Cassie sensed more were hidden from her view. More Nephilim under Azazeal's command. Cassie scanned the room focusing upon a worn and broken chandelier to the right of them. Squinting she focused her energy upon the rusting chain holding it..if only she could.. "Dropping a broken light fitting is not going to do much to help you now is it Cassie?!" Her eyes snapped back to Azazeal. A feeling of great helplessness washed over her, once again she felt herself drawn to him, under his power. No! she unconsciously shook herself free of his thrawl...she wasn't going to succumb again. She couldn't! "Time is running out Cassie. I am tired of these games, I have given you the choice now make your decision or I will be forced to remove all obstacles.." the intensity in which he uttered the all sent shivers down her spine..she knew she could not challenge this without losing..

Thelma dodged the usual business of the hallways as students darted back and forth unaware of her presence. Scowling at individuals Thelma eventually found herself beside the library door..she was sure Peggy would be here, 'twas her usual haunt during the day. Opening the door Thelma's heart did a happy jump as she spotted her paranormal paramour in an armchair beside the piano..but something was wrong. Something was terribly wrong. * Cassie nursed the bruise emerging on her cheek as she lay slumped in a dusty corner. Cobwebs felt their way through her blonde hair as angry tears pricked the corners of her eyes. In the centre of the room Azazeal and a member of the Nephilim, who Cassie now knew went by the name of Gadreel, were arguing. "...who told you to hit her?! How dare you defy me?" Azazeal's voice boomed across the room dripping with an anger Cassie hadn't witnessed before this. "..but what about the prophecy sire? She is not going to come willingly and if it's true, if Michael-" "It is not true. Do you have no faith in me?" "I--" Gadreel dropped his head in surrender and mumbled something Cassie couldn't quite make out. The pain in her cheek aching and stinging as she struggled to keep her focus on escape and the hope that Thelma would come rushing through the door. Any minute now.. * Thelma stood in the doorway panic making her heart race, beating so loudly she was sure the passing students would hear her. Trembling slightly she entered the library, a warm musty smell filling her nostrils but an ice cold air surrounded her. She stopped behind the chair, the dark leather shining in the sunlight from a nearby window, she noticed a liquid substance across the arm. Blood. But Peggy couldn't- "Hello Thelma" the figure in the chair stood and turned toward the young ghost. Thelma stumbled as relief swam over her quickly replaced by fear. "It has been a while since our last meeting, I trust you remember me?" "Sariel" was the only response Thelma's mouth would allow her.. * The door swung open with a loud bang. Cassie's eyes widened as hope leapt into her chest. Thel- But it wasn't Thelma that stood silhouetted by the blinding sunlight outside but Michael. His tiny figure entered the room, his child hands clutching something Cassie squinted to see.. "Hello Father, I believe you have been expecting me?"

"Ah, Michael" Azazeal grinned, as the boy strolled towards him, not noticing Cassie slumped in the corner. "I could only get the second piece. She said she didnt know where the last was" Michael explained, turning the object over in his hands, which Azazeal was eying hungrily. The door was still open... She only had a split second to think, but she knew she must act on her insticts. Cassie pushed herself up as quietly as possible, all the while keeping her eyes on the three in the middle of the room. Blessing the dust on the floor that muffled her quickened footsteps, she was nearly at the door. Not long now... "NO!" She screamed, as something heavy connected with the side of her head, the force of the blow knocking her to the floor. She didnt get back up...
***
"Thats right" Sariel said softly. He gazed at the figure on the floor, a sickening smile spreading across his features. "D-did you do this?" Thelma asked. "Yes" Sariel whispered, taking his place back in the armchair. "W-why?" "He knew far too much" Sariel said casually, "I had to dispose of him" Thelma took a few steps backwards, worry rising in her chest as she stared at the body. Sariel must've got it wrong....how could Troy know anything?

Thelma stared at his limp lifeless body now visible beyond the great armchair where Sariel was perched without a hint of remorse or caring. Thelma's stomach twisted and tears dripped from her chin, she had never cared for Troy. She hadn't even liked him but she didn't want him dead. He was an innocent as far as all this was concerned.. Sariel watched Thelma intently before sighing loudly and examining his nails whilst he spoke: "There's no good staring at him, 'fraid he's not coming back. He's not as...resilient as you" he raised an eyebrow as he said resilient drawing attention to the fact that Thelma was not meant to be as she was Thelma spun around to face the demon, her watery eyes wide and angry. "What did he know? He didn't deserve this!" she spat, failing to control her anger, she lunged at Sariel... * Cassie lay on the floor unconscious, Michael's eyes fixed upon the cut now bleeding profusely into the dusty cracks of the stone floor "How could..I thought-" "Michael you need to realize Cassie is pivotal to our plans, we can't have her running off.." Azazeal said Cooley sparing a single glance at Cassie's motionless body. Michael's expression changed into one of rage at the sight of his wounded mother, he thrust the artifact into Azazeal's arms and knelt beside the blonde, tenderly reaching a hand toward her wound.. " What are you doing?" Azazeal's voice stirred with anger and fear as he pocketed the object and turned his attention toward his son. "I won't let you do this" Michael lifted Cassie's body placing her arm around his neck and supporting her with his weight. A bizarre sight considering Michael's boyish size.. From the other side of the room Gadreel began to laugh..Azazeal glared at the angel as he watched Michael carry his mother to the door "You will regret this.." Azazeal muttered through gritted teeth as he watched, rooted to the spot, as his son walked away, betraying him as he went. An uneasy silence filled the cavernous room until Gadreel spoke once more "So the prophecy was true then...well I guess we can't complain that we didn't see it coming!" his laughter rang out once more silenced by the hand now grasping his throat "Do not give up on us yet dear friend..the prophecy spoke of Michael's betrayal yes Azazeal's hand tightened around Gadreel's throat but it also spoke of our triumph, if this much has transpired then what follows will be very interesting indeed.." he smirked and loosened his grip throwing Gadreel across the room and into an ageing wooden cabinet as he did. Strolling from the room his black duster billowed behind him, a smug grin spread across his face...

Michael stumbled through the grounds towards the school, finding it more and more difficult to support his mothers weight with each step he took. He breathed a sigh of relief as he spotted the entrance, hoping that the rest of the students were in classes so they could get through the school unnoticed. He kept his hand on the cut, which was still bleeding profously. The corridors were empty, as he stumbled round them, trying to remember where Cassies room was. His ears pricked at the slightest sound, paranoid someone would walk out a classroom and see him. As he passed a slightly open door, he heard a familiar voice... "Get off me, fool! I can do you more harm than your trying now, GET OFF!" "Sariel..." He whispered, pushing the door open, the scene before him making him take a slight step back. A body on the floor. The ghost girl, Thelma, on top of Sariel, furiously trying to punch every bit of him her fists found. Sariel with a look of pure rage across his face, his nephilim features coming out.... "STOP!" Michael screamed, laying Cassie on a couch near the door. He ran forward, but there was really no need. As soon as the angel seen him, he vanished, leaving Thelma furiously pummeling the floor. "You evil, foul, horr-oh..." Thelma looked round, her eyes resting on Michael, "You! What are you doing here? Did you have something to do with this?" She gestured towards Troy. "No, I didnt have anything to do with it...and I was bringing my mother back here, when I heard you and Sariel..." "Your mother? You mean Cassie? You brung her back?" Thelmas eyes lit up, a look of happiness spreading across her features, "Where is she then? Was she asking for me? Is she okay?" "Shes just there" Michael whispered, gesturing towards the couch. Thelma looked over, her eyes widening as she spotted the unconscious form of Cassie. Without a word she got up from her position on the floor, and ran over to the couch. "Cassie? Wake up, its me. Thelma. Your safe now" The blonde stirred, opening her eyes wearily. Her hand automatically went up to her wound, and she brought it down, staring at the blood. "What happened?"

"Shouldn't we get her to a hospital?" Thelma shot Michael a concerned look, speaking as though he was no longer their enemy. "No..I..Thelma.." Cassie's stuttered in a breathless voice struggling to speak "Ssshh Cass, it's okay, I'm here.." Thelma gently stoked her friend's hair looking deep into her eyes with a private affection "No..I..I don't want to go to hospital not after.." again Cassie's voice faded as her energy drained from her seemingly into the pool of blood she was slowly creating on the plush carpet where she now lay "Oh" realization struck Thelma like a fist, here she was suggesting hospital's when Cassie's first and last experience had resulted in the birth of Michael. Michael who now stood gingerly behind the ghost eyeing Cassie's wound with fear "Maybe we should just take her to your room, I think I can stop the bleeding" there was no air of confidence or friendly tone in the baritone voice behind Thelma's ear, glancing at Cassie she nodded reluctantly helping the child lift his kin to her feet once more. * Bloodied tissue lay scattered across the bedspread like debris from a fatal car crash as Thelma paced the room chewing her fingers, her eyes focused upon the scene. Cassie lay limply across the width of the bed, her eyes closed once more as Michael tended to the wound. An intense look upon his furrowed brow he dabbed at the wound with a sensitivity that surprised Thelma. His childlike hand clasping Cassie's as he worked. The room grew dark as night fell and the three sat in silence by the light of a bedside lamp. Cassie remained asleep, her wound no longer bleeding whilst Thelma was crouched beneath the window her legs crossed and her scuffed cowboy points tucked beneath her "Why did you save her?" Michael looked up in response to the question obviously aimed at him, he was leant against the door frame, his head barely level with the handle, his eyes bright in the dim light. "She's my mother" he answered with the same expressionless voice that made Thelma's skin crawl "...and Azazeal is your father, you know what they say about apples.." "I am nothing like my Father!" Michael stepped away from the door this time his voice resonating with anger *

Thelma's head was thumping. Was it even possible for ghosts to have headaches? She wearily put her fingers to her temples and rubbed them.
Cassie was now sleeping on the bed, her chest rising and falling slowly, she looked so peaceful. Thelma missed the happy ignorance that a deep dreamless sleep could bring.
She mustered all her patience and forced herself to speak politely to Michael. He had, at least, just saved her best friend.
Peggy had mentioned a prophesy concerning Michael, or rather another prophesy beyond just being the key to the release of the Nephilim. Peggy had explained that Michael would face a choice, that he was as much a part of his mother as his father and he had an inherant goodness inside. The prophesy said that Michael would either take up his crown as the prince of Azazeal's strange dark world, or he would cast it down. Thelma felt a tinge of pity at the fate that rested on Michael's shoulders.
The prophesy also mentioned an unholy alliance, between the living and the dead and the one that stood between. Could it mean....? Thelma decided to ask, no point in beating around the bush now.
"Sariel. Why isn't he with Azazeal's army? What part does he play in this mess?"

Michael sighed and walked to a nearby chair his eyes avoiding Thelma's stare.
Sitting, he looked up and began to speak, his voice breaking the eerie silence surrounding his being.
"Sariel is a complicated character Thelma, he is not to be underestimated. Sariel was given the role of deciding the fate of angels, he was responsible for punishing all those who strayed from God's path. This of course made him unpopular with those who had fallen, you can imagine why, so when he himself fell from grace he was not greeted with open arms.
You see Sariel's 'fall' was not at all expected he was...is an angel of knowledge, and was one of the leaders in Heaven's armies. The proverbial 'teacher's pet' you might say. Anyway for him to 'fall' to deceive God in such a manner was a blow no one was prepared for"
Thelma's brow narrowed as she listened intently her eyes fixed upon the floor, concentration etched upon her expression.
"But..why didn't they just-"
"Kill him?" Michael clasped his hands together in a way which made Thelma uneasy, still adjusting to the contradiction of Michael's age and physical appearance she shuffled in her spot
"I'm afraid it is not that easy..

"How..." Thelma began, but she was stopped by Michael raising his hand, his eyes locked onto Cassie. Thelma looked over to her as well, to see she was finally stirring. She sat up from her position under the window and shuffled over to the bed on her knee's. "Thelma?" Cassie muttered, looking confused as she gazed at her, "What happened? Did you save me? Is...Is he gone?" "If you mean Azazeal, yes, he is gone" Thelma smiled, "And I didnt save you...Michael did" "Michael" Cassie repeated slowly, sitting up, "Where-" "Im here" Michael said, standing up aprehensivly. A look of worry momentarily crossed Cassie's face as she gazed at her son, but it was quickly replaced by a small smile. Michael returned the smile, and Thelma moved back under the window, feeling like an intruder upon the moment. "Come over here" Cassie said tenderly, sitting up properly now. Michael shuffled over, looking slightly uncomfortable but at the same time pleased. "Thanks..." Cassie whispered, wrapping him in her arms, "I really-" But she was interupted by a loud knock on the door. Michael wrenched himself away, looking panicked. Cassie looked around the room, her eyes resting on Thelma's bed. "Get under the bed" She whispered, confident he wouldnt be found there. He obeyed, and she waited before he was completely hidden before crossing the room and opening the door. It was Jo, looking like she'd just been crying. Her eyes were puffy and her hands were figiting restlessly. "Cass...what on earth has happened to you?" She asked, looking horrified as she took in the bruise on the girls cheek and the wound on her forehead. "I...uh..." Cassie began, not even sure of what had happened herself. "Did this have anything to do with Troy?" Jo asked, her voice getting higher with every syllable. "What...?"
