1.3 Nightvisiting: Funny when Miss Quill was reading the Hunger Games and asking herself whether the events in the book really happened. Absolutely scary the alien that turns up here. Quite moving moments between Tanya and the alien posing as her father as well as April telling Ram of her life story. Playing Tanya’s father Jasper and the alien posing as him was Kobna Holdbrook-Smith. After the broadcast of this episode Patrick Ness noted on twitter that Holdbrook-Smith had also been seen in Doctor Strange as the title character’s physical therapist and Doctor Strange was released in concurrence to Nightvisiting’s broadcast. I myself had seen Doctor Strange the day before seeing Nightvisiting but did not realise it was one and the same person until noted by Ness. Quite interesting Miss Quill meeting the alien posing as her sister and funny when the former says that the memory of the latter is being disgraced for being nice!

Class 1.4 Co-Owner of a Lonely Heart: Part 1 of a two parter. When the crack was mentioned it made me think of the one during the Matt Smith era of Doctor Who. The new headmaster Dorothea Ames is played by Pooky Quesnel and she had previously appeared in parent Doctor Who in A Christmas Carol playing Captain. Headmaster Ames said that no one under the age of 35 is called John anymore. When I asked this elsewhere someone said that while this is not absolutely true the name John is rare these days. April’s father being freed from prison has exacerbate the situation in this story. April sure showed her rage and what a shock when April put her hand inside her mother. For this scene of her showing her rage this undoubtedly represented Sophie Hopkins’ best performance as April and in addition to her use of the scimitar. A brilliant cliffhanger of April going through the crack followed by Ram.

1.5 Brave-ish Heart: Conclusion to Co-Owner of a Lonely Heart. Good conclusion but does not excel from the previous episode. Ram references Frodo from Lord of the Rings and he was played in the Peter Jackson movies by Elijah Wood and these days he is in Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency which began recently on October 22 which is coincidentally the same day Class started. Creepy the deadliness of the petals. Funny Quill smashing a car only for Dorothea Ames to tell Quill that it isn’t her car! April’s dad does not seem as bad as before due to him showing concern for her but April is not willing to let him back into her life. Whether she does so one day is up to her. Inspiring April telling her mother to take one step and see where the next one leads to.

1.6 Detained: Antepenultimate episode of the series/season. The kids are placed in detention by Miss Quill. This is essentially a bottle episode in which most of it takes place in detention. Fascinating episode in which meteor crashed into detention which results in them telling hard truths. Compelling stuff.

1.7 The Metaphysical Engine or What Quill Did: Penultimate episode of the series/season. I was surprised that this episode took place during the previous episode Detained as it showed what Quill was doing whilst the kids was in detention and that she appeared at the end of that previous episode very different to the beginning of it especially with her scarred eye. Neat that Ballon was stated as a Zygon only for it to be revealed that he is from another shape—shifting species and was pretending to be a Zygon. Fascinating that most of this episode took place in the metaphysical reality. Terrifying seeing the Arn taken out of Quill’s head. Quite a revelation with Quill after she got back to Coal Hill. This is essentially Quill’s Heaven Sent. In fact this episode came on November 26 2016 just two days shy of the first anniversary of that Doctor Who episode on November 28 2015. In fact due to the time difference and the delay in me seeing this episode I actually got to see this episode on November 28 2016.

1.8 The Lost: Season/series finale. Shocking on seeing two parental deaths that of Ram’s father and Tanya’s mother. Funny how long it took Tanya to noticed Quill’s pregnancy. Stunning that the Shadow Kin are dealt with by the use of the Cabinet of Souls but sadly at the cost of April’s life. We finally see the Governors and they sure aren’t good guys and marked the end of Ames who shockingly met her demise by….a Weeping Angel. Eerily enough before the reveal of the Weeping Angel I did sense their presence when looking at the Shadow Kin here. To top all of this is that the series/season ends with a cliffhanger with April now in Corakinus’ body.

Despite having been launched with a fair amount of hype, Class appears to have met with near-complete indifference from Who fandom, the sci-fi community, and mainstream audiences. Even when a new episode was debuting every seven days, the show failed to make it onto the weekly list of the fifty most-downloaded shows in the UK, and for it's promised terrestrial screening - which was expected to be in a primetime 21:00 slot on a weekday - Class was instead not only hidden away after the 22:00 news on Monday nights, but shown in double bills of two episodes at a time... a sure-fire indicator that the BBC had realised they had a clunker on their hands and wanted to rattle through the series as quickly as possible.
Don't expect Class to be renewed for a second season. A pity. It had the potential to be the Whoverse's equivalent of Hex - something that all Hex fans must have been looking forward to with anticipation.

It is finally official there is no more Class. The announcement was made by BBC Three Controller Damian Kavanagh: “No, [we're not bringing it back]. There was nothing wrong with it – I thought Patrick [Ness] did a great job, he explored an amazing world. In honesty, it just didn't really land for us on BBC Three. Things sometimes don't, and I've got to make decisions about what we're going to do from a drama point of view. There are always times when you do something and you have to decide that it's not going to come back. Class is just one of those things. Class was created to appeal to the young adult market and initially released in the UK on BBC Three, now an online only platform. It was hoped that high-quality original content would drive young viewers to the online station. However, the decision meant that Class was initially only seen by a fraction of the audience it would have received on a broadcast channel.”

Class Ongoing: The New Year: www.classongoing.com/thenewyearThe New Year is a short story from Class Ongoing, a Class fan series. Set between Brave-ish Heart & Detained. Not story of what gang were doing just as the new year was about to arrive. Certainly interesting when Ram took April to see Rogue One and how it did turn out how he expected.

Gifted: Gifted is the first episode of Class: The Audio Adventures Volume One from Big Finish. Starring Sophie Hopkins as April and Fady Elsayed as Ram reprising their characters from the TV series. Written by Roy Gill. In this episode we meet a being called Mab whilst at the same time Coal Hill gets a new student Thomas "Tom" Laneford who befriends April. It would turn out that Mab and Tom are connected and key event comes in a fancy house. This truly explores when it means to be gifted as per the title in particular what it means to Ram. Enthralling way to start off Class' adventures on Big Finish.
The accompanying interviews with the cast were interesting to hear including Hopkins and Elsayed saying that the two had discussed when these Big Finish adventures took place in the course of the TV series as well as being glad to be back playing their characters. Also Deirdre Mullins (Mab) saying the method she took in playing Mab.

Life Experience: Life Experience is the middle episode of Vol. 1 of Class: The Audio Adventures from Big Finish. Written by Jenny Colgan. Tanya and Ram goes to Sevelin Laboratories for work experience but soon got embroiled by what goes on there and that is a monster. Exciting and enthralling how this story enfolded as Tanya, Ram and their fellow visitors battle for survival against this monster. A well told story and it amusing by what happens when Tanya made a comment about the door.
The accompanied interviews were enjoyable listen especially when the interviewees what their real-life work experience.
My own work experience is definitely nothing like what is presented in Life Experience.

Tell Me You Love Me: Tell Me You Love Me is the final episode of Class: The Audio Adventures from Big Finish. Written and directed by Scott Handcock. Featuring Charlie, Matteusz and Miss Quill. What makes this episode particularly fascinating were the characters speaking very fast at a frantic rate. Truly disconcerting but well done in its effect. In the end it is Miss Quill who achieves the solution but somewhat confused by the way this episode ended.
Interesting the interviews which starts with Greg Austin (Charlie) and Katherine Kelly (Miss Quill) as this is their first Big Finish as they talked about being back as their characters for the first time since the TV series.
