Has anyone seen Stage Beauty? Zoe Tapper was excellent in that as Nell Gwynn. And looks like there's another Hex reunion coming up in one of her new projects The Grind - Joseph Morgan's in it too. Gemma and Troy reunited on the big screen...should be interesting.

I want to see all these films with Cristina and Zoe, but doubt they'll be available in the U.S., or my player won't play that region if I ordered them.

My parents read the Daily Mail, which published a large photo of Zoe Tapper on 10/03/06, together with the news that she's the female lead in a new British period film, These Foolish Things. The film is about a London theatre company in the 1930s, and also stars Terence Stamp, Anjelica Huston and the legendary Lauren Bacall. These Foolish Things is currently being screened on the Sky Premiere movie channel. It's on everyday this week at 16:00, switching to 14:00 on Saturday (23/06/07) and being shown at that time all next week.

According to Baz Bamigboye, Zoe Tapper is among the cast of ITV1's adaptation of Sarah Waters' Affinity. There's also a little bit of info on it here at Digital Spy.

That's good news...it'll be interesting to see what they do with Affinitiy. I really liked the adaption of Fingersmith - wasn't so keen on Tipping the Velvet though.

That's good news...it'll be interesting to see what they do with Affinitiy. I loved Affinity so I've got high hopes for the TV version. I hope it doesn't disappoint - the cast looks excellent though so fingers crossed. Shes also going to be appearing soon in an episode of Miss Marple ... Towards ZeroGreg Rusedski is part of the cast of that episode too. Imaginatively enough he plays a tennis player...

Another new project for Zoe Tapper, according to The Mirror: Life On Mars fave Philip Glenister is absconding to ITV! Once he's finished nailing more blaggers for the Beeb he's switching channels - and tackling vampires.
Philip, currently appearing in the BBC1 costume drama Cranford, is soon to rock up again as motor-mouth cop Gene Hunt in BBC's Ashes To Ashes, an 80s sequel to Mars.
But then he's off to ITV to star in a spooky new Saturday teatime drama based on the famous Van Helsing myth.
The big budget fantasy is all about vampires and he plays a bloke who can cross between real life and the underworld.
A young male actor will play the title role, while Hex actress Zoe Tapper is the love interest.

Intriguing. A couple of thoughts;
1.) How significant is it that it's being referred to as a 'tea time drama'? That makes it sound as though it's perhaps intended for younger viewers. ITV have been criticized for their near-total abandonment of children's programmes, so this series could be a high profile attempt to counter that.
2.) The Beeb have produced two popular Saturday evening family drama series - New Who and Robin Hood. ITV created Primeval as their answer to Who. Is 'Young Van Helsing' intended as being their Hood?
Either way, it'll be good to see Zoe Tapper back in a genre show again. She's a talented actress who was woefully underused in Hex's first season.

Zoe Tapper has the leading role in the period drama A Harlot's Progress. She plays Mary Collins, a real life prostitute in 18th century London, who became the model, muse, inspiration and personal obsession of painter, engraver and satirist William Hogarth (played by Toby Jones). A Harlot's Progress was released on Region 2 DVD this week. The timing is clearly designed to capitialise on the publicity for the similarly-themed series City of Vice from the same creative team, which is currently being screened on Channel 4 at 21:00 on Mondays. Zoe Tapper's new show has got a name: The Last Van Helsing. From ITV Media: ‘In-humans’ – supernatural entities with freakish powers – are on the move and the only one who can stand in their way is Luke Forsythe. Luke is a normal, everyday 17-year-old Londoner until, one night, he wakes up to find a mysterious stranger raiding his fridge.
Luke is the direct descendant of Abraham Van Helsing, legendary ‘smiter’ and the inspiration behind the Dracula story. As his heir, Luke plays a key part in the neverending struggle between the two species. As the world faces a fresh onslaught, Luke must confront his legacy and take his place as a crucial weapon in the coldest of cold wars. It's produced by Shine and written by Peter Tabern, who did some episodes of Hex season two if I recall correctly.

Wow! Thanks for the info, orokiah. I've done some on-line searching myself, and Julian Murphy & Johnny Capps are listed as the series' producers, plus Mackenzie Crook has apparently signed to guest-star in one episode. I was already intrigued by this show, but after learning that it's being made by Shine with former Hex personnel on board, my interest level has hit the ceiling. However, I'm still wondering what type of show The Last Van Helsing is going to be. My guess is that it'll be the horror equivalent of Primeval - a family show that's eventful and packed with monsters, but without anything too complex or really frightening to confuse or scare the kiddies watching with their parents. Quite a different prospect compared to the post-watershed grittiness of Hex. I also can't help thinking that the show's central premise - reluctant teenager discovers it's his destiny to fight monsters and save the world, guided by an older mentor (Glenister's character, presumably) - basically sounds like Buffy with a sex change. But I'm starting to sound like those people who lazily pigeonholed Hex as being "the British Buffy", so I'll shut up now.

More character and cast details for The Last Van Helsing, from Philip Glenister's official website: Philip plays CIA operative Rupert Galvin who's a friend of Luke's father. The cast includes Christian Cooke, Holly Grainger, Richard Wilson and Mackenzie Crook. No mention of Zoe Tapper so far except in the Mirror's original story about the show.

No mention of Zoe Tapper so far except in the Mirror's original story about the show. I hope the original Mirror story was correct, and it's not another case of a tabloid jumping the gun and reporting trade gossip as fact. Cataloging the numerous incorrect rumours that The Sun prints about New Who has practically become a popular on-line sport amongst Who fans.

I hope the original Mirror story was correct, and it's not another case of a tabloid jumping the gun and reporting trade gossip as fact. Looks like they got it correct after all; this is from the press release regarding the show, which names Zoe Tapper as part of the cast and gives some details about her character: Philip Glenister (Life on Mars, Ashes to Ashes) returns to ITV in a fantastical new drama series: a contemporary spin on the legacy of Bram Stoker’s Dracula set above and beneath the streets of modern-day London.
Glenister plays Rupert Galvin, a larger-than-life American with a tragic past and a zero tolerance policy to the rabble of mythical “half-life” entities that exist all around us. When he bursts into the life of his teenage godson, Luke (Christian Cooke – Echo Beach, Robin Hood), whose father died in mysterious circumstances 15-years before, little does Luke know what will be thrust upon him. There are supernatural forces of evil at work and it is Luke’s destiny, as the last descendent of the Van Helsing line, to smite the half-lives that stalk our streets.
While trying to juggle an ordinary life of school exams, parties and learning to drive – not to mention keeping it all from his mum - Luke is catapulted into a world of vampires, demons and zombies, along with his best friend Ruby (Holliday Grainger – The Bad Mother’s Handbook, Waterloo Road). But he remains cool – it’s in his blood after all…
Helping Galvin to train Luke in his quest is the beautiful but icy cold Mina Harker (Zoe Tapper - Affinity, A Harlot's Progress) a blind concert pianist with a history, who is also the foremost authority on the undesirable entities preying on humanity.
But before they have time to properly prepare Luke, he is faced with a daunting opponent in the form of the villainous Gladiolus Thrip (Mackenzie Crook -The Office, Pirates of the Caribbean) a sinister vampire with a burning hatred for the Van Helsing line and all they stand for.And here's another article on the show with some pictures of Zoe and Philip Glenister on the set. This sounds really good. Hope it lives up to its potential.
