Finally got to see the corresponding Confidential episode for Time Crash and just as obviously everyone had fun making it, I had fun watching it.

Totally separate from the fact that I never liked Rose anyway, her return is a backward step as far as I'm concerned.
She was written out by being transported to a parallel dimension, with no way of returning. The Doctor even had to harness the energy of a dying star just to send her a brief goodbye message. It was clear at the time that writer/producer Russell T. Davies went to such elaborate lengths just to spell out to the audience that she definitely 100% absolutely wasn't coming back.
But now she is.
I'm sorry, but even a sci-fi programme about an alien travelling though time and space in a blue police box has to have some internal logic and creditability. Rose's return just flies in the face of that.
It's not been officially confirmed yet, but apparently the upcoming fourth season of New Who is going to be Davies' last. If so, Rose coming back would seem to indicate that Davies is planning to turn the season into a 'Greatest Hits' package to mark his departure. In addition to Rose and Martha, there are rumours that (spoiler font) Sarah-Jane will also be making an appearance, and that Peter Davison's fifth Doctor will do an encore, following the Children In Need 'Time Crash' sketch. John Bannerman has also confirmed in interviews that Captain Jack will be back in the Tardis for a couple of episodes.
Hmm. Let's just hope all the back-slapping for Davies (though well deserved) isn't too intrusive and doesn't get in the way of some decent storylines.

It has also been hinted at about 'The Rani', being brought back as well ...... but thats the rumour mill for you. With any luck The Rani will be posing as Rose Tyler because that's pretty much the only way I could find something to enjoy about her reappearance. I'd be hoping for a flashback if it wasn't for the fact Billie Piper has apparently been spotted - and pictured - filming with Catherine Tate. I'm disappointed partly because it comes across as a giant leap backwards. And partly because I was hoping we'd finally seen the last of Rose and all the dewy-eyed mentions of her. Grrr.

Agreeing with everyone about Rose Tyler. No one I talk to thinks it's a good idea - "Doomsday" having seen fitting closure for her character. And, unlike some, I actually liked Rose... at least in the first series. By the second she'd become far too smug!

I've recorded but not yet watched 'Voyage of the Damned', but I did catch the trailer for New Who's fourth season, that ran during the end credits. Spoiler font: Spotted several scenes starring Sarah Lancashire as a seemingly mad scientist, including one in which she's apparently using a sonic screwdriver as a weapon. Two possible explanations - the first is that her character has stolen it from the Doctor and worked out how to use it. The second (the one I'm hoping for) is that she's The Rani...

Well, I've watched 'Voyage of the Damned' and I wasn't particularly impressed, to be honest. It was basically a Poseidon Adventure recap in space, and definitely the weakest of New Who's three Xmas specials so far. Spoiler font: Bringing in a big name guest star and then killing her off was a gutsy move, though. And it's interesting that the Doctor's Messiah/God complex still appears intact, despite all the people that he couldn't save (Notice at the end of the episode, when he suddenly thinks there's a chance to save Astrid, only to realise it's too late, he kicks the console and yells in frustration "But I can do anything!!). It just makes me more convinced that Donna's return is the best thing that could happen to the Doctor. She's going to put his feet back on the ground and save him from himself.

I thought 'Voyage of the Damned' was pretty poor overall. It started off well, and there were some funny lines ('information: you are all going to die'/'it's just France and Germany, only Britain is great'), but that was about it. It was overlong, Kylie was sweet but bland, and to top it all the moment where the Doctor threw out his arms and ascended with the angels was just cringeworthy, especially after the Tinkerbell imagery in 'Last of the Time Lords'. Clive Swift was excellent as Mr Copper, though; a really well written and realised character. And I'm looking forward to seeing Donna even more after the trailer for series four.

I've just read on another message board that Original Who address Nicola Bryant (she played Peri Brown, the companion to Colin Baker's sixth Doctor) can currently be seen in an advert for Bold washing powder. Here's a link to the ad; www.visit4info.com/preview-flash.cfm?vm=0&type=3&adid=52417I had quite the crush on the lovely Ms Bryant, and she's clearly still a fox. Is it too much to hope that after the successful return of Sarah-Jane, the producers of New Who consider bringing back Peri?

I just receive news that will interest everybody: Colin Salmon is appearing in Doctor Who in this year's season.
It was revealed in a BBC Press Release that he is appearing in Steven Moffat's upcoming two part story.
Also appearing in the story is former ER regular Alex Kingston.

Some information regarding the fourth season of New Who (Spoiler font): Previously it was only a rumour, but Elizabeth Sladen has confirmed that she will be appearing as Sarah-Jane in the climatic episode(s) of the fourth season, teaming up with Rose, Martha and Captain Jack to assist the Doctor and Donna. Here's a link to the interview in which she spills the beans, and she also briefly discusses the second season of The Sarah-Jane Adventures; www.sfx.co.uk/page/sfx?entry=sarah_jane_the_return_again
